To many, a treehouse is a symbol of childhood, of being adventurous and climbing trees, of a simpler happier time. Who hasn't made a den as a child, whether with blankets and sofa cushions on the floor, or with wood and rope in a tree?

However, treehouses are much more than just childhood play, they symbolise human ingenuity, creativity, and a deep connection to nature.

Treehouses have been around for centuries, with evidence of their existence dating back to ancient times. Indigenous tribes in Papua New Guinea, for example, built treehouses to avoid floods, insect bites, and rival tribes. These early treehouses were not just places of refuge but also social hubs for community activities.

Our treehouses sit in the tree canopy overlooking our rewilding project, where wetland birds feed in the scrapes, the resident longhorn cattle herd roam by with their new calves and you might even catch a glimpse of deer, badger, fox and hare.

From now until 14th September, families can book a very special two-night escape in one of the treehouses which enjoy dramatic views over the rewilding land which is gently returning to a wetland status and out to the River Severn – home to longhorn cattle, wildflower meadows, and teaming with wildlife including two new families of lapwings.

The package includes:

  • A two-night stay for two adults and one child (with the option to add on a child easily)
  • A breakfast hamper with a bottle of local apple juice
  • A cuddly Longhorn cow soft toy – inspired by the estate’s real herd
  • An engaging kids’ activity pack
  • Ice cream vouchers for the whole family to visit nearby Wholly Gelato for cooling ice creams.
  • A gourmet burger kit for adults and hot dogs for the children, freshly prepared by the Estate Kitchen
  • A two-hour rewilding safari with the estate’s team, including fun den-building activities for kids

This immersive nature break costs £680 for two adults and one child, with the option to add an additional child for £60 each.

There’s still plenty of availability across the summer holidays for those who are yet to make plans. It’s the perfect chance for families to slow down, spend time together and be inspired by the work of the rewilding team and the dramatic advances which have been made in just under five years.
